Culinary Arts 12
In Culinary Arts 12, students will begin exploring food and kitchen safety. From there, students will explore various celebratory foods, interact with multiple herbs and spices, tackle numerous forms of dough and bread, and interact intentionally with the updated Canada Food Guide. Students will also get to plan and execute a party and explore the cultural importance of Indigenous foods.

Economics 12
This course instructs students in the world of economics. Covering topics such as Foundations of Economics, Supply and Demand, Markets/Labor/Businesses, and Macroeconomics and Indicators.

Digital AV Media 12
This course was created through a REACH initiative by the BC Conference of the SDA Church, specifically for students interested in giving back to their local church communities through the ministry of AV Media Production. In this course, students will learn about basic copyright laws, internet identity and safety, and how to create an online portfolio. Students will also learn the basics of photography and video production, colour theory, team leadership management, and script development. For their final projects, students will make a video documentary.

Instrumental Music: Concert Band 12
In Instrumental Music 12, each student is learning and practicing their own instrument of choice, sending in a monthly sample of their playing, participating in quarterly recitals/performances (if possible), and submitting a monthly log indicating daily practice time.

Career Life Connections 11/12
In Career Life Connections, students will review and revise their digital footprint, create a network of career contacts, develop a cover letter and resume, practice interview skills, learn about workplace etiquette and safety and log volunteer hours in an area related to their chosen career. Students will complete the course by creating a Capstone Project that they will present to a panel of their choosing. Their Capstone Project will highlight their future education, career plans, and goals.

Encounter 12
“Bible class,” as we call it, is more than a time for reading, discussing, thinking or debating. We have the privilege of allotting time daily for study and reflection so that we who seek God may grow to know and love Him and His ways more with each passing moment and so that we can better understand His intent and desire for our lives – that is, His desire to live His holy life through us! This class is required for all full-time WCAS students. Not available for cross-enrollment.

English Studies 12
In English Studies 12, students will have opportunities to read and analyze numerous works of literature and sources, incorporating their interests into their research, writing, and creative projects. Students will learn the skills necessary to detect bias in literary works, uncover hidden meaning and symbolism in poems and stories, write first-year college-level essays, and present quality speeches professionally.

Apprenticeship Math 12
This self-paced course is designed to start you on a path toward direct entry into a trades program or the workforce. The topics you’ll cover include metric and imperial measurement systems, similar triangles and trigonometry, 2D and 3D shapes, 3D object views, math in the workplace and financial literacy focusing on business.

Calculus 12
This course is designed to provide students with an advanced understanding of math and critical-thinking skills that will be needed in post-secondary programs like engineering and science. Topics include limits and continuity, derivatives and their applications, integrals, differential equations and mathematical modelling.

Pre-Calculus 12
Pre-Calc 12 is designed to provide students with the mathematical understandings and critical-thinking skills identified for entry into post-secondary programs requiring theoretical calculus. Topics include transformations and a wide variety of functions ranging from polynomials to rational functions.

Physical Education 12
This course encourages regular, enjoyable physical activity that contributes to a healthy body and mind. Students plan their own programs and choose their own activities, which might range from something as simple as walking the dog to participating in team sports. In addition to the physical activity program, there are written activities and readings about the active lifestyle, as well as involvement with community or church programs involving some leadership.

Anatomy and Physiology 12
In Anatomy and Physiology 12, we study every system of the human body. Initially, we study cells, how each organelle inside the cell functions, and their role in the body. Once we know what is happening at the microscopic level, we study several body systems, including the digestive, respiratory, nervous, circulatory and reproductive systems.

Chemistry 12
In Chemistry 12, we study chemical reactions. We examine rates of reactions, equilibrium, how things work in solutions, acids and bases and finally, electrochemistry. Chemistry 12 uses math extensively, including logarithms, but, most importantly, algebra.

Physics 12
When we study physics, we want to find out how the world around us works. This includes the smallest electrons and the largest stars. In Physics 12, students will be studying several topics from Physics 11 in more detail, and you will also be working on many new topics with magnetism, including electromagnetic induction.

French 12
This course builds on French 11. Students discuss entertainment, culture, government, and the marketplace and have the opportunity to refine and perfect their conversational skills.

Italian 12
This course builds on Italian 11 and further develops listening, writing, reading and speaking skills, emphasizing communicative competence. Language structures and vocabulary are reviewed as the student is exposed to more complex grammar, vocabulary and reading selections.

B.C. First Peoples 12
B.C. First Peoples 12 is dedicated to celebrating and understanding the diverse and authentic cultures of British Columbia’s Indigenous Peoples by focusing on their languages, culture, and history, which plays a significant role in the province’s history. The course offers BC students a valuable opportunity to gain knowledge and comprehension of the traditions, history, and current realities of BC Indigenous peoples, while also encouraging them to contemplate future challenges and opportunities.

Comparative World Religions
It’s human nature to pursue truth and to find answers to the big questions that plague our minds. Answers come to us in many forms through world religions and other philosophical arguments. Our worldview lens impacts what we choose to believe as true. In this course, students will explore the worldviews of the following world religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, and Christianity, along with a closer look at spirituality in First Peoples cultures.

Physical Geography 12
This course covers the physical and human-created systems of the world by studying people, places, environments and their interrelationships. It closely examines the Nature of Geography, Systems of the Earth, and Resources of the Earth. Through this course, students will be able to develop an analytical understanding of how local, regional, and global environments affect them and ways to maintain the balance of those systems for the future sustainability of Earth’s resources.
