History
Founded in 2006, West Coast Adventist Online School is part of the worldwide Seventh-day Adventist Church education system, one of the largest Protestant educational systems in the world.
For more than a century, Seventh-day Adventist education has focused on developing the whole person—academically, spiritually, socially, and physically. At WCAS, we build on this rich educational heritage while using modern technology to provide Christ-centred, teacher-directed online learning for students and families across British Columbia and beyond.
Because Seventh-day Adventist education recognizes the important role of parents in a child’s learning journey, many families find that WCAS is a natural fit for home-based learning supported by certified teachers.
Today, WCAS proudly serves students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 as an Independent Provincial Online Learning School (POLS-I) authorized by the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care.
What Makes Us Different?
Christian
At WCAS, Christian faith is intentionally woven throughout the learning experience. Students engage with biblical values, prayer, spiritual growth, and our Christ-centred Encounter Bible program as part of school life.
Families do not need to be Seventh-day Adventist to attend WCAS, but they should understand that faith is an important part of our school community.
Parents and home facilitators play an important role in student success, particularly in the elementary years. At the same time, every student is supported by BC-certified teachers who provide instruction, assessment, feedback, communication, and ongoing academic support throughout the school year.
Students connect with teachers through live Zoom classes, Brightspace, tutorials, email, and one-on-one support opportunities.

Live and Connected
One of the defining features of WCAS is our commitment to live teacher instruction and meaningful student connection.
Full-time students participate in scheduled live Zoom classes, school assemblies, tutorials, clubs, and other community-building opportunities throughout the year.
Rather than learning in isolation, students are known, supported, challenged, and encouraged as part of a Christ-centred online school community.
At WCAS, our goal is to provide quality, personalized online learning that helps every student grow academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally while reaching their God-given potential.
